Director’s Welcome…

“It is my privilege and honor to welcome you to our new 2023 - 2024 Season with the Kansas City Young Chamber Musicians! As the first and, as of my writing this, only young person’s classical chamber music training cooperative of its kind for piano, string, AND wind students serving the greater Kansas City Metro and surrounding Midwest region, we are excited to bring you another engaging year of chamber music instruction and performance.

This season, admitted KCYCM students will have the unique opportunity of working with faculty and guest artists from our partnering organizations including the Harriman - Jewell Series, the Kansas City Symphony, the Navo Trio, and several of our local collegiate institutions. Students will also be eligible to participate in specially arranged programs through Classical KC 91.9, Kansas City Music Teachers Association (KCMTA), and more!

While solo music lessons, school band, and youth orchestra play important roles in every young person’s growth as a musician, the fundamental collaboration skills cultivated through the chamber music experience are ones which cannot be replicated elsewhere. The sense of responsibility for their community and accountability to their peers that I see KCYCM students develop over the course of their work together is a source of continued inspiration for their families and friends.

I look forward to having you join us this season and being equally as inspired by the things classical music’s future young leaders are doing in our great city! (6/7/23)”

- Nicholas Dold, KCYCM Director and Piano Faculty
