PREREQUISITES:

Students need not have any chamber music or ensemble playing experience prior to enrolling in Kansas City Young Chamber Musicians. However, all participating students must be currently taking solo private lessons with a primary instructor and remain enrolled in their solo private lessons for the duration of their studies in the program. Once a student has been placed in an ensemble, they are committed to sufficiently preparing for and participating in all events detailed in their ensemble’s group schedule provided by the Chamber Music Coordinator for the entirety of the Academic Year.

TUITION PAYMENT POLICY:

All students and families will receive their tuition invoices in conjunction with their designated ensemble’s schedule, distributed before the beginning of the Academic Year. All tuition balances will need to have been paid by or before the designated due date included on the invoice.

General Chamber Music Faculty will not be able to assist with payment related matters. Once a payment has been processed, no refunds will be provided.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:

Occasionally, events or circumstances may arise in which a student may not be able to attend a previously scheduled coaching. Any such conflicts will need to be submitted to the Music Coordinator Team via email so that a solution can be explored. Requests for a “rescheduled coaching” may be submitted with three-week’s notice before the date of the coaching in question. Any requests submitted after the three-week notice period cannot be accommodated and will be considered a missed/canceled coaching. A missed or canceled coaching, even in the event of illness, cannot be refunded. All recital and competition attendance is mandatory for enrolled students.

DISMISSAL POLICY:

While the cumulative success of each student ensemble depends on strong support and commitment of all individual members and their families, there are unfortunately serious “last- case” scenarios in which students and families may be dismissed from the program including: consistent lack of preparation, excessive absences or tardiness, late or missed tuition payments, missing a performance, inappropriate conduct towards other students, families, or faculty, verbal or physical harassment of any kind, and bullying.

No refunds of any kind will be available for students or families who are dismissed from the program.

COMMITMENT TO ALL COMMUNITIES:

As the faculty are committed to fostering a supportive and creatively nurturing environment for the education of all students enrolled in the program, we have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind, including discrimination based on: race, ethnicity, nationality, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, financial status, religious or political affiliation, and all physical/mental/learning handicaps. Please help everyone in our community by being kind, considerate, and supportive team-players.
