2026-2027 enrollment in Kansas City Young Chamber Musicians is now open!
Students between the ages of 7 - 19 ranging from the Intermediate through the Advanced playing levels are welcome to apply for placement in duos, trios, quartets, and quintets in the following instrumental categories: strings, piano, wind, and reed instruments. Brass players are encouraged to apply as a pre-formed ensemble.

Screening Requirements:
Screening for the 2026-2027 Academic Year are ongoing by appointment for placement in an ensemble for any of the following 15-week terms. Contact us at info@musicacademykc.com if interested:
1.) Performance: 1 selection of the student’s choosing that demonstrates their current level of playing. (Memorization not required.)
2.) Sight-Reading: An excerpt will be provided at the screening to demonstrate the student’s current level of sight-reading.
3.) Interview: Please be prepared to answer a few questions from our faculty about your current musical activities and interest in playing in an ensemble.
Pre-Formed Ensembles:
Pre-formed chamber groups are encouraged to apply to Kansas City Young Chamber Musicians in order to take their ability to the next level. Our artist-faculty can provide high-level coaching, assist in repertoire selection, and guide you through competition preparation. Pre-formed groups may receive opportunities for extra performances, masterclasses, and local outreach.
Examples of pre-formed ensembles include, but are not limited to:
Piano Trio (violin, cello, piano)
String Quartet (2 violins, viola, cello)
Piano Quartet (violin, viola, cello, piano)
Piano Quintet (2 violins, viola, cello, piano)
Wind Quintet (flute, oboe, horn, clarinet, bassoon)
Brass Quintet (2 trumpets, horn, trombone, tuba)
