What tuition covers…
Tuition covers the entire cost of enrollment. There are no extra fees for participation in recitals, outreach, or other KCYCM activities.
Tuition is per-semester, with each semester (Fall and Spring) taking place over 15 weeks of instruction.
Scholarships are available for students facing financial hardship. Get in touch with our admin team to learn more.

Please note: Tuition reductions and discounts do not stack. We will apply the lowest fee to your tuition cost. I.e. a pre-formed trio of two siblings and a friend will only receive the pre-formed ensemble rate. The siblings will not receive an additional 5% discount.

About each program…
Chamber Program
Students are placed in small ensembles typically ranging from 3 to 5 players. Each group receives weekly instruction from one of our superb artist-faculty coaches, with the goal of performing in KCYCM recitals, outreach, and other activities. Groups are coached at the Music Academy of Kansas City facility in Overland Park, and have the opportunity to perform in Tuyli Shire Hall.
The chamber program is a great opportunity for students to learn alongside friends and peers in a close-knit setting, working on skills in leadership, communication, listening, teamwork, and performance.
String Ensemble
Modeled after the Suzuki Method’s “Playdown” style (but not quite using the Suzuki Method itself), students in the KCYCM String Ensemble meet once a week to rehearse with a faculty coach. The ensemble works on core chamber skills while preparing a variety of pieces for performance over the course of a semester.
In Playdown style, younger/newer students are joined by older and more experienced players, where they can feel inspired and learn from working directly alongside them. As the music gets harder throughout the performance, newer players join the audience while the more advanced players remain, giving newer players the incentive to learn and improve so that they can eventually perform in the entire concert.
Adult Chamber Music
This program is designed specifically for adult amateur players to find their chamber music home! Each group is assigned a faculty coach, who will give pointers and help the ensemble reach readiness for performance. Our faculty can assist both pickup and pre-formed ensembles in repertoire selection, rehearsal technique, and other critical chamber music skills.
While performance is optional and at the discretion of the group and coach, it is heavily encouraged that all chamber groups in the adult program participate in KCYCM recitals as an encouraging, warm, and supportive space to share music with each other. Upon registration, adult participants will have the chance to designate if they are initially interested in performance opportunities, or just coaching for self-improvement.
